Lost in translation

I know what your thinking I've been gone long enough, right? Well, today the girls finally went back to school! So I guess it's time I stop ditching the house work and blogging, seeing how now I have no excuses. Besides laying out by a pool watching my imaginary children would just be plain weird. I just have to face it, play time is over and it's time to go back to our normal routine. Which I have to say was a hard pill to swallow, when the alarm was going off, at the the butt crack of dawn this morning! I don't know if it was all the anxiety about the girls going to school , the full moon or what , but I got No sleep. I tossed and turned all night going over everything in my head. What all I need to do, should have done, or didn't get to do rassled through my brain over and over. I think this morning I was more nervous then they were, about their new school. I gave them more instructions then they can comprehend in a month. The basic who, what, when and where's...

Who they should and shouldn't talk to.

What they should and shouldn't do, say, or act like.

When they should, shouldn't, can and can't.

And

Where they should, shouldn't, can and can't.....

By the time we were in the car, any and all fears they may have had about school quickly disappeared. They both agreed they knew exactly where to go and tried to convince me my assistance getting them to their classes, was unnecessary. After lots of questioning them about their fears from the night before, when visiting their classes, they announced I would be embarrassing. Embarrassing? What? So that's how it's gonna be, huh? Reluctant they let me walk them in regardless. Well, not really it was more like they let me follow them in. I toted Jacob as they ran off down the hall and left me in their dust trail. Once I caught up to them, I didn't see a single forth or second grader noticed me, but I kept all hugs and kisses to a minimum. You know not to Embarrass anyone or anything! It was clear when their was no eye contact and a shoulder shrug that it was my time to go.

So now I am left with a less quieter house, with plenty to do and no idea where to begin. Here I spent days waiting for this moment and here I sit like a lost puppy. A rejected lost puppy that is!

Planning what I hope is not a big headache

Today I have been running all day, getting ready for tomorrows big road trip. We're (Yes, somehow I managed to convince/guilt the hubby into it.) going with the girls on a school field trip. We are driving 2 hours away to visit an amusement park! All parents will be driving instead of taking a bus, Thank Goodness! The trip will be bad enough traveling with just my own two, more less dealing with 30 or so others! I have tons of things to do like run all over buying last minute necessities, and pack by 6 am in the morning. So, tried and out of breath off I go run run run... (crossing my fingers & hoping we have lots of fun!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Check list for packing the car
1.Lots of snacks (Busy mouths can't complain about how much further it is! And we all know Madisen is always starving.) Check
2.Cooler with drinks (Setting myself up for disaster on a long highway with no bathrooms!!) Check
3.Two Walkmans, extra batteries and music Check
4.Ear plugs (I wish!) , For all the loud singing they will be doing. (Each singing to different songs on their walk-mans!) Check
5.Games, for after they are bored with the music Check
6.Puke bags (for the curvy mountain roads) Check
7.Extra clothes, towels, garbage bags, carpet cleaner & jug of water (Just in case they miss the puke bag and we repeat the last time we made this trip!) Check, check, double check check!
8.Nerve pills ( I wish!) & Anti-nausea medicine for me ( just in case I have to clean up puke!) I wish - Check
9.Pillows For the ride home ( After all the excitement where's off, they finish rambling about their day, and crash!) Check-ity check check...

And, Even with having plenty of experience with Kiddie road trips,
I found this video very useful!
Although, the kids in this video make me want to start unpacking, Now!
(Darn it! Was that field trip this week?... Mommy forgot all about it, too bad maybe next time!)

Time after Time

First of all let me say, I know how everybody is glad to see rainbow bright, strawberry shortcake and all the other pathetic comebacks from our childhood. (I know not really it's like why can't they come out with something new , right? No one played with them then and they won't now!) Let's all agree and leave all that junk back in the 80's! Although, I am thrilled the bell bottoms I swore I would never wear, came back. (Somebody, please tell me what ever possessed us to tight roll our pants? What were we Thinking?!)
( Please press play on the player, to go back in time...)

This all brings me to letting you know No Cindy Lauper not is back!
Thank goodness!
(Even though some days I wonder when I see girls getting off the public school bus dressed like floozies.)

Today was dress funky Day at school!

(Wait a minute...What is Kailey doing in that 2nd picture?
She looks like she's mentally challenged and has to pee!)
Oh my! Anyways, They didn't tell me until 20 minutes before walking out the door, So I had to quickly throw something together. (I know , it's not my best work!)
A couple things you can't see;
1. Kailey is wearing Christmas socks with feathers around the top.
2. Madisen's pants and are pink camouflage with flowers.
3. Madisen's socks have a golfer's pattern on them.
4. The neighbors are driving by starring.
5. Jacob is hanging on to my boob for dear life while I take the pictures.

I was a little worried, when we arrived at school and all the other kids I saw were dressed in their school uniforms. (Yet I still just drove off! ) Was it really dress funky at school day? My children have been known to get days mixed up. I had no note, and had heard no announcement. The first I had even heard about it was this morning. I was going on their instructions alone, hoping they knew what they were talking about. So far I haven't received any school phone calls, so that's good. Last thing I want is to hear something like this;

Mrs. Regish, I'm sure you understand the children should not be dressing themselves. Our school has rules and standards, and their attire is just well um...Unacceptable!! Could you please come bring your children a pair of regular school clothes.

If I'm lucky maybe I'll arrive to pick them up and they will be wearing some of the schools clothes, with a teacher to greet me. Wouldn't that be embarrassing!
I remember when I was in school and if your shirt had anything on it derogatory it had to be put inside out. Or, girls if your shirt was too low cut, you were made to wear some gawd awful school shirt until someone brought you something. In that case you weren't supposed to leave the house with that on anyways, and you wait till you get home! So, because you were sneaky and changed at a friends house, you were now forced to wear the puke green stained polo all day for punishment!
Boy times have changed, or have they?

Arguing with myself

Do you ever fight and argue with someone all day, without them even knowing? What I mean is its just all in your head. If you answered No, then you are thinking I need to be in a nut house because I am crazy. If you answered yes and laughed under your breath, then yeah your crazy too, ( just like me )! There's one thing about if your going to pick a fight with me you better be ready to dish it out, if your going to have any chance of winning. If not, the longer I stew about it the worse your going to get slammed in the end. You see, I will go over every single detail and scenario about it. It’s all day over and over arguing back and forth, all in silence. That way when it is time to finally hash it out I can be calm and collective, (well most of the time) and I will just let you have it.

Although, with kids you know most of the time you just don't have this option. You just have to think fast and seize the moment. Most times when this happens I spit out so much so fast that it makes no sense. I get so frustrated; I can't even get their names straight. Spitting out every other name before theirs and too much unneeded information and I just stand their like a blabbering idiot. It’s not as affective either I must say. Take for instance one morning when my girls are doing anything and everything but get ready on time for school. They'll stand in front of the TV half naked apparently trying to put clothes on. (What is so mesmerizing about that box I will never know?) If it wasn't that, then they were chasing the cat or fighting, instead of eating their breakfast. I'm in my room trying to get dressed, while trying to keep Jacob away from the toilet or out from under the bed. (since he refuses to stay in the playpen every morning). Every few minutes one of the girls comes to tell on the other. Meanwhile the clock is ticking and no one is near ready to walk out the door.
Going on ten minutes late... I have hit my breaking point after all my threats have failed and I hear a final whine of fighting. (Madisen to Kailey standing at the door; "don't push me...stop it!")

So... I go off on them, and end with "Now let's go, brush your teeth!”. Here they are looking at me back packs on ready to walk out the door, wondering why I said for them to brush their teeth. What I meant to say was "Now let's go, get in the car!” In a way correcting myself I just say "You know what I meant to say... Just go!”. I’m sure with all that confusion just they forget everything that was previous said, and figure they just better behave cause momma’s crazy.

What!... You went to the Principal's office!

Kailey came home from school with a note to her from a teacher. She was so excited for me to read it and see her precious note. Little did she know the note revealed a big secret. That secret being a little incident at school she just happened to forget to tell me about. The note was to Kailey about how her teacher wasn't mad at her and she was so sorry she was so upset at school blah blah blah. How she thought none of that would raise red flags is beyond me. Anyways, turns out Miss Kailey had been in the principles office the other day with another little girl over something silly. Apparently this little girl didn't like what Kailey was doing, causing a little argument ending with her hitting Kailey. Now everyday when she jumps in the car I hear every detail about her day. She said this, so and so did that! So, how come two days later I was finding out about this? You don't just forget a trip to the principal's office and having a meltdown, I mean really. I know she would have never told me had I not have questioned her about what the note was pertaining to. When I did ask what it was all about she was very apprehensive to tell me. She beat all around the bush, acting as though is was no big deal, telling me the story. In her mind she thinks it's bad anytime your in the principal's office, which is probably why she didn't come out and tell me about it that day. All in all it was fine she wasn't the one in trouble, but I wish she would have been comfortable enough to tell me. Most of the time I just rely on the girls to tell on each other to get my information. This time it just so happened Madisen didn't know about it. So, I guess this is something I need to figure out how to deal for upcoming secrets . I know she is not going to grow up telling me everything like Madisen, who tends to tell on herself. With Kailey I'll just have to start getting better tactics, like spying, sneaking around and bribery I guess. ( Oh dear God, I'm turning into my Mother!) I'll have to start now before those teenage years are here, and I'm out in left field trying with my pants down wondering what to do. Oh how I'm dreading them already.

I should have known

Friday Madisen has a project due for school. She has to build a volcano, for science class I am guessing. I consider myself to be very crafty. I can do all sorts of things with posters, paint, and sewing. All the girly things I'm into it. I'm the one usually doing all the kids projects, I mean helping of course. (Yeah right). I can handle turning a potato into a rockstar diva. It's all the boyish stuff like Volcanoes, growing mold, science and history projects you can forget it. I don't have a clue where to even start, that would be Jason's department with the kids. Even if I have directions I'll find a way to screw it up. My husband Mr. Procrastinator has known about this project for two weeks. This morning I went out to the car to take the kids to school, and I couldn't even leave the drive way. The water pump was completely trashed and therefore it’s undriveable. Which Jason has been meaning for months to look at. Now tonight he'll be working on the car in the driveway till late. Guess, who will be inside trying to figure out how to make a last minute volcano?
